Or, you get knocked clean across the board...so no, you can keep this game and ill take my money back thank you. Like the pixel art :) I am not really a fighter veteran...but so far, wishemere is great fun :). Wishmere is a great brawler with quite a lot of gameplay modes that’s great to play alone or with friends and family. The story is endearing in a surprisingly thoughtful way, with themes that as a father I felt very connected to. The gameplay is a lot of fun too, with every character having wacky moves out of old comics and mangas. It was really a treat to play, though I recommend using a controller as there are some more complex movements. Recommended :-). As a mix of a fighting game and a beat 'em up, Wishmere has something for everyone. It plays at the speed of a fighting game like Street Fighter, but has an open-to-casual low barrier that kind of feels like Smash or like Pokken. With a large nice fighting game esque moveset (there's some learning involved), you can play versus friends like a fighter or play a mode that allows you to scroll right like a brawler, both which is fun to play with a group of friends. There's a story mode that is quite unique because in a genre like this, it totally comes as a surprise. From witty dialogue to some (but rapid) character development, the characters all have their own personalities and have their own little stories. Button layout might take a little getting used to, as it's a little unconventional, but if you can get used to it, the game has some deep mechanics and content in a package that's rewarding to play as you learn new things. Overall, this game has been worth my time, I hope they add more content.. Did not enjoy. Lack of polish. Controls not precise for what it is trying to be.. Does not support Xbox 360 controllers or arcade sticks. We tried a number of controllers before finding TWO that worked. Couldn't even play for one hour without crashes or freezes. Pausing to set up your skills is a gamble because it can freeze at a moments notice. The gameplay itself is very limited compared to other beat-em-up titles like Fight-N-Rage. "combos" are one-button affairs, and if you decide to manually preform the combo, there's not much reward in doing so. There's no damage bonus or anything like that.Story mode is single player only, so if you want to play with friends you're going to have to either forget that there's a story at all or play through it once solo to explain it. (Not worth doing, honestly.)It's a novel idea to have a fighting game-style beat-em-up....but the implimentation of it is really janky and makes you feel like you'd be better off just playing one of the old Sega genesis ones instead. I bought the game for $7 and I'm still getting a refund because there's no reason that a game that's been out since 2017 shouldn't have CONTROLLER SUPPORT when it says it does.. Did not enjoy. Lack of polish. Controls not precise for what it is trying to be.. Wishmere is an excellent game and I highly recommend this game to those that love "old school" beat em ups, or wanting to get into the genre. The gameplay is great, it really does have that old-school beat em up feel to it. The attacks are quite fluid and fast too. Although there are some differences that separate this game from the rest. You can perform combos to do high amounts of damage. There is an active block that you can utilize to negate damage. As for characters, each one has their own unique set of special moves and secret arts. Special moves can be used on their own or can be used in a combo, kinda like a finisher. Secret arts are like your ultimate moves, some can wipe out enemies on the screen, while others may grant you additional attack powers. There are also team attacks that you can perform with another player that can potentially wipe the screen of enemies. There are currently two modes that you can play, arcade and story mode. Arcade mode has 3 difficulties: easy, medium, and hard. These 3 difficulties are basically like horde mode except it is not infinite, after you beat 5 rounds the level ends, but you can always replay. Then you have your endless mode, the rounds are infinite and you play until you run out of health. As for story mode you get to learn more about the characters and the lore of the game. There isnt much currently, but will definitely be expand upon as the game gets updated. There is only local coop as of now. Online coop is TBD. From a singleplayer standpoint the game is still very enjoyable, not one moment did I ever get bored from playing by myself. That is not to say I dont want Online MP, I would love to see it implemented. As for hours to price ratio, you will definitely get your moneys worth from this game and more.Overall Wishmere is an excellent game to play and add it to your already awesome collection of games. I hope this review helps you in deciding whether to purchase the game or not. Update 1 – Combo Frenzy: We're very happy to announce our first update for Wishmere and it's a huge update! Empowered by the feedback from the community, we've rehauled the entire character movement, along with the expanding of the HP and damage system. Every character, enemy and boss was affected by the rehauling, so now: 1) every character moves faster and recovers much faster from attacks and 2) every character / enemy has actual HP (in the previous build, characters only lost 1 HP regardless of the attack and only could be hit on an average of 6 times). This change brings the game to other fighting games / MOBAs and has a much more lenient and action oriented style. Thanks a lot to those that gave their feedback and suggestions-- awesome stuff! The game now has defensive options also, which are cancellable into. We're looking forward to working and refining how the defensive options work within the game; they may need buffing or nerfing, so do tell us what you think. To reiterate, Update 1 was a major update, so the Change Log is quite huge. However, we wanted to get the Change Log off on the right foot and let everyone know what exactly was changed. So, we present to you... the Change Log for Update 1[crayder.com].. Update 2 - Variance: Our second update is now live! It's a little smaller of an update than our Update 1, but it implements various changes the community has suggested. The big ones include: adding in enemy HP bars, made changes to the defensive options to make them more viable and easier to execute, added in new Super Arts for Earle, Dove and Safford, more item pickup variance (see what we did there?) and analog support (!!!) Our overall goal here was to make the game more varied (OK, I'll stop using that word) and adding more meat to the game in terms of difference in playthroughs. As the balance for both the Codex Block and Barrier is still in the works, we'd like some feedback on whether it's useful or not this time around. In addition, do let us know if enemy HP bars clutter the screen.Do check out the Change Log for Update 2 [crayder.com] for the full list of changes.. Wishmere is now fully released: Wishmere is now fully released!
